Getting Technology into Your Classroom
As technology becomes more prevalent in our students' lives outside the classroom, it only makes sense that it would become increasingly used within the classroom as well. That is, if you're lucky enough to be in a district or school that provides laptops or tablets for student use. There are some districts that have a 1:1 student to device ratio, and that is AMAZING. For the rest of us, getting our students' hands on technology isn't quite so easy. However, it's SO important that we make sure it's part of their classroom routines. Why? Because they will be expected to be competent technology users in the workforce and throughout their higher education. But more importantly, it should be part of our classroom routines because technology can enhance student engagement in learning as well as increase the quality and outcomes of their learning. This is especially true when it comes to writing.
So I'm here to help you get your hands on more technology for your classroom, whether you want laptops or tablets - anything to get your students typing, blogging, and creating! There are lots of sites that are designed to help people raise funds for these types of situations and it can be hard to know where to start. The process can be a little confusing and intimidating if you haven't used them before or aren't comfortable with technology. Let me tell you ... it's not hard, and it's absolutely worth doing! I would recommend using DonorsChoose and/or Go Fund Me. Both are EXCELLENT tools for getting your hands on materials that you wouldn't otherwise have the funds for. Click on either button below to read more.
